DC Energy Benchmarking
Washington, D.C.’s energy benchmarking law requires large buildings to annually track their energy and water efficiency and report the results to the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) for public disclosure. The Building Energy Performance Standard was enacted in 2018 under the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act of 2018.
Currently, all private buildings greater than 10,000 SF are required to submit their annual benchmarking reports by April 1.
Sheehan Engineering has been assisting clients throughout the District and has an expert level of understanding of the ordinance requirements. We are an Approved District Verifier and offer tailored and full-suite services described below.
Annual Reporting
Gather energy data from the local utilities; upload to EnergyStar Portfolio Manager; review property details; and report to the District on your behalf.
Verification
Provide third-party data verification services to fulfill the verification requirements. This can only be performed as a standalone service since DOEE requires that the third-party verifier has no conflicts of interest with the data gathering activities.
